What does the Law say about Workplace Ethics?

Workplace and the law go hand in hand. There can never be one without the other for sure. There are laws that have been framed about several things in society and that includes how to conduct business as well as deal with punishment and punitive action being meted out to people who don't follow it.

The law states the actions to be followed in times of moral dilemmas and when decisions need to be made. They try and meet the needs of the diverse and complex world by setting down ground rules about what is termed as crime in Workplace Ethics and might require a punishment. This helps one to ensure that a healthy enough corporate culture is created that is within the legal bounds of the laws laid down by the countries. This makes the working of Workplace Ethics far more simple.

There are certain older values in Workplace Ethics like trust, honesty and commitment versus the newer ones such as teamwork, creativity and innovation that might not require laws of the country behind them. At the same time, there might be conflicting interests resulting and this in turn will be when laws will be referred to as this will result in a monetary loss or gain for any of the parties involved.

There are several companies that draft their code of conduct after looking at the laws and interweaving those in it as well. This will give the employees a feel of the Workplace Ethics and they will be communicated to them in several different ways. The whole cross section of the employees will also be made aware of their rights and responsibilities based on the law for the country.

Workplace Ethics can go ahead and deal with the basic values at hand. Once these values are reaffirmed to the employees time and time again, the rest of it will fall into place. The laws provide the fundamental values and policies to fall back on in the case of Workplace Ethics.

There is no doubt that a strong relationship does exist between the law and ethics. They do overlap one another at times and at others work in tandem with each other. The law has universal rules to it which lets people know of the relationships that are considered right or wrong by the community in which they thrive. Therefore, laws are consistent, universal, widely accepted or reinforced for the people all around them and published in the written form so that all know of them. The Workplace Ethics on the other hand are similar to those of the law but are drafted by individual companies in order to note that all the employees are aware of the the management expects from them.

Although the terms Workplace Ethics and law and legal entity are linked and overlap one another, in reality Workplace Ethics is a far more deeper term as it goes beyond the written word alone. It is more of how a person feels and therein behaves accordingly based on several different factors.
